Finally Friday by Audrey

Simba said I could take over the blog today to tell you a little about myself.

I have lived with my first Mom (Simba's human sister) for 10 whole years, and love her very much. We were very good companions for each other. However, it turns out that her brand new husband is allergic to cats, and also she was having a hard time with my bad night time habits of waking her up all the time. So my grandparents have become my new Mom and Dad. After the wedding, they brought me on a big plane in my carrier to my new home. I was quite a trooper on the trip. The only bad part was going through the security when I had to be taken out of the carrier, and was pretty frightened. Other than that I behaved perfectly. In the end I was in my carrier for about 6 hours!

I like my new home very much. There is lots to explore, and great bird tv and chipmunk tv at all the windows. I am very curious and have explored everything.
Simba and I got introduced to each other within a few hours and we are getting along pretty well. Simba is a bit less sure about things than me, but you can see from these pictures that things are going pretty well.

The only (very) difficult part is that our eating habit are so very different: Simba never overeats, no matter how much food is available, and likes to have his food out all day. I have to be given only the right amount, no matter how much I beg for more, because I am really a little piggie disguised as a kitty and I gobble down everything in sight very fast. The humans are trying to work out a system that will work for both of us. Also right now Simba seems rather nervous about eating and so is not eating very much. This has them a little worried.

My new Dad even packed my favorite bed to bring, as well as my favorite pink blanket. My bed is set up in the kitchen and the first few nights at least I am sleeping in the kitchen. The humans say they will play it by ear whether to let me come and sleep on the bed or not. For now, that is Simba's sanctuary for the night- time hours and I have been sleeping well in the kitchen with an extra litterbox in there for me to use.
You can see in this last picture how "at home" I feel after only 2 days!

  1. Wow, Audrey - what an ordeal for you. And we are over the moon that you and Simba are getting on so well. Two ginger beauties in the same blog - this is indeed a treat for us loyal readers! We hope the food thingy gets sorted. There has to be some way to accommodate piggies and not so piggies.

  2. Hi Audrey, it's nice to meet you! Obviously we've been out of the loop with our grandpa's visit!

We're glad you're settling in well and also hope the food issues gets resolved. It IS hard when kitties have different eating styles--we remember that with our angel Annie--she was a grazer and we're....not. LOL.

    Good luck!

  3. I hope you get things worked out better than they are here! Binga and Boodie are pigs and I'm picky, so my human has to sit and watch while I eat, and sometimes she even has to lock up Binga while I am having dinner. It makes things kind of complicated around here.

Thanks for stopping by my party, Simba!

  10. You certainly look very comfy there in that last picture. That's how my mummy sometimes nods off on the sofa too. You are a much prettier site :) My big bro Simba is just the same whereas I like to gobble everything up as quickly as possible. Mummy says its not very ladylike, but by the time I get fed I am starving!!! I look forward to seeing you both snuggled up together just like me and my Simba do :)xx

  11. Hello Audrey! We are soooo happy you are adjusting to your new home. Simba looks like he might be happy to have a pal, do you two play feather or anything together yet? Mommy says playtime is great for integration. We are all grazers here, so no help on the foods situation. Do you eat wet or kibble?

  12. What big news for us! You two look utterly relaxed with each other. We are furry glad things are working out so far. As for the eating habits we might have a similiar problem here. Chilli is very slender whereas the vet told Siena she has to loose at least one kilo as she weighs too much. If you find out how to manage your situation let us know too, okay?

  15. It's lovely to meet you properly, Audrey. You are a beautiful girl! And so nice to see you settling in with Simba and feeling at home so quickly! Lovely photos!

As for the food issue, #1 says she sympathises, having one slightly chubby girl (me), one just right girl (Tama) and one skinny boy (Bibi).

  20. Poor Audrey what a shame to have upheaval at your time of life. Still, you did luck out with your family, didn't you? A nice new home and you can still see your mum sometimes. And you have Simba to play with!

Can't imagine why security would want to pat you down, must be because you're pretty.
