Farewell to Terrence

We have some Big Sads today, kitties.   Last night my human brother called to say they had  to help their kitty Terrence to the Rainbow Bridge.     Terrence was 10 years old and about 4 years ago he had a terrible time with a complete urinary blockage which had him in hospital for about 2 weeks, including radical surgery on his manly parts.      He has had several lesser episodes since, but yesterday had developed another complete blockage.   He was in terrible pain and they did not want him to have to go through any more pain hospitalization and surgeries with uncertain outcome.     It was a sad day for them.

Run free and healthy, Terrence.    One day we will meet you at the Bridge.

Terrence has a sister who was his littermate, Persimmon, who will also miss him a lot we are sure.    They could often be found cuddling or close together as seen in these two pictures.    Terrence is the one sitting, with Sim in the box:

Here Terrence is on the left and Sim on the right.

Here he enjoyed relaxing on the dining table (just like a cat!)

We will miss you, sweet cousin.   Rest in Peace.

  2. This is a very sad day: 10 years is too short a time. And a horrible decision had to be made. We are very sad for Sim as there's a big empty space now where his bro was. We hope that they get through the pain of the loss - please pass on purrs and gentle headbutts from us xxx

  6. I am sad too Simba, knowing a beloved fur family member of yours flew to the Bridge yesterday and that his littermate Persimmon will miss him terribly.

Ten years old was so short a time but his mom and dad made a hard and loving decision for him. I hope my mom will love me enough and have enough courage to let me go if I am in deep trouble as Terrence was.

Love and head butts to the entire familty and snuggles to sweet Sim who is grieving as well. xoxox <3

  12. Awwww! I'm paying my respects to Terrance. One of the cats that came before me had that. After he finally had the sex-change op, his kidneys went and he had to be helped to the RB too.

  17. How very sad about Terrence. It's terrible when medical issues steal a kitty from his family before his time. Purrs to your brother and to Persimmon.

  19. Ohhhh =(
My heart is breaking for all of you. Grace & Company have no experience with this, but I do ... more than once, and it's so hard: hard to make the decision and hard to deal with once he's gone. This little poem helps a little bit:

    “Grieve not,
nor speak of me with tears,
but laugh and talk of me
as if I were beside you.....
    I loved you so -
    ‘twas Heaven here with you.”

  37. I'm so very saddened to read about your beloved Terrence. He looks so much like my Shadow did, so many years ago now. It's heartbreaking, I know all too well, to have to say goodbye and let go of ones we love so very much. But know that he is happy, and no longer in any pain, having crossed over to the Bridget. My condolences to you and all those who loved Terrence. He will always remain with you, alive and well, in your heart and your memories and your love for him.
