Jack the Cat - Rest in Peace

Some of you may have heard the news already. Jack the Cat has gone to the Rainbow Bridge. You can read the full story on the Facebook site here

It is very very sad that all this happened to Jack due to being transported by plane. His human was moving to California and taking her two cats with her. Some will say that people should not send their cats in Cargo, but instead take them on the plane with them. However, as we have said before, currently the TSA make you take your cat OUT of his/her carrier when going through security. The same thing that happened to Jack could have happened if he had escaped from his human at security. Things need to change in how pets are handled when in cargo AND the security procedures.

Rest in Peace, sweet Jack. Be free at the Rainbow Bridge.

At least his human does not have to wonder whether he is alive and lost any more. And he died surrounded by love and caring.

  1. Tears again here. I saw this last evening and the uselessness and sadness of his death just breaks my heart. Thank God he had someone with him and didn't just perish with no one to care and comfort him and with no knowedge of it for his human. Now he will rest in peace at the Bridge waiting for her by and by.

  2. This makes us very sad and mad at the same time. We hope that Jack's passing is not in vain and changes are made in the way animals are transported on planes.

RIP, Jack...you had so many peoples caring about you....

  3. This is very sad news. We're not on facebook, so we can't read the full story. Did he get back to his owner? The poor guy! We're sending purrs to his owner.
Our grandma spends the Winter on the Canary Islands and she always takes her cat with her. He's not allowed in the passenger area because he's heavier than 5 kg, apparently there's a weight restriction. It's terribly silly and dangerous that you have to take your pet out of the carrier, what sense does this make? Oh, and the airways just doubled the charge for taking your pet with you fraom € 40 to € 80. Doubled! How cheeky is that?!

  13. There has been so much attention surrounding Jack, and what happened to him - I hope this is all used to change the way we kitties are handled at airports!

  14. Poor, dear Jack. His family must be devastated to lose him after finally finding him again. May God comfort their hearts and watch over them, and may Jack rest in peace at the Bridge.

  19. Yes, the only thing I can manage to think about is that he was loved on and treated with care at the end. Such a sad tale. Hopefully, everyone will learn from this.

  20. We don't think Äiti has stopped being tearful since reading about Jack first. It is so very upsetting for everyone and to think of what he went through....... Äiti shudders when she thinks she sent the Britcats through cargo, but it is a bit different in Europe and Finnair were very good.
But the whole CB is sad right now and purring for those who have to travel.
