S-A-D?

Mom and Dad have noticed that I have been sleeping even more than usual lately. There is no incentive to ask to go on the deck, and I seem to realize that it is yucky outside. My basement is pretty cold, so it is not as much fun to go down there these days, and we haven't had sunpuddles in quite a while. So I tend to sleep on the couch or in this corner almost all the time, except for when I wake up to ask for meals and snacks. Mom wonders if cats get depressed with Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), too.

  1. I think we cats do get depressed in this weather, too. We sleep more, too. Spring has to come soon!

  2. We also sleep more and Annie, especially, seems more "off" during the winters. Mind you, our human also has trouble with the long, cold, snowy season!

  5. YUP, we suffer from SAD also........which we are doing right now....It has been terribly cold here.....nights in the mid to high teens, and yesterday it didn't get out of the 20's....they are saying we could have some snow tonight....mama says she'll believe the snow when she sees it!!!!!!!!

Us boys are purraying for snow, as we've never seen it.

    We love you bunches, Simba.

  6. Or maybe we are just smart enough to snooze until the winter blows over...

  8. Simba, we do the same even though our mom plays feather wand with us to keep our spirits up. Even the birds are not hanging around too much lately and no squirrels to watch at all. Maybe everything knows to sleep when it's cold so that the time goes by faster. Hey, we have an idea. You could come over to our house and play with us! We have all sorts of toys and we share! Well, mostly anyway. You can't touch Sam's brown and white mouse. He's soooo particular!
Even though you are sleeping, Simba, you are still a GORGEOUS mancat to me! xoxoxo

  9. In our deepest winter we have 4 hours of light so Ă„iti leaves lights on for us. We definitely sleep more, and when the sun appears we get really skittish (we expect to see it perhaps in a few weeks for the first time this year!). But we don't feel sad as we have each other to amuse and annoy.
But we cannot wait for spring!

  11. Maybe you are right, Simba. When it was raining for several weeks here in Los Angeles, all we did all day was sleep in the bedroom.

  12. We sleep a lot more when it's cloudy and icky out too. We get all frisky feeling again when the sun comes out though and we hope you do too Simba!

  14. We spend a lot more time sleeping in winter. Mum has to wake us up to ask if we want to go for a walk. In summer we keep running to the gate to get her to take us out.

  15. I think all animals (including humans) sleep more in the winter. Everyone starts to resemble the bears...hibernating.......

  16. Maybe, boring day, cold, blah. What you need is sun and playtime.

  17. Simba, funny you should say this. Just the other day, my mom and dad said they thought I seemed kinda sad lately. I sleep alot too. Maybe it is all the blah weather. I need an open window and some fresh air!!

  18. I'm sending you some of our nice weather and I sure hope you're not SAD. I could juggle to make you happy again if you'd like?

  19. My kitties are sleeping a lot more lately too - I blame the cold, cold weather. It's a lot easier to get non-blurry pictures of them when they're sleeping, though!

  20. Yep the weather does get us down occasionally.. Maybe you are part bear and are just hibernating.

I'm sending you a sun puddle from Florida.
