The Ordeal

So Mom decided to get to the V-E-T's early, thinking she had the first afternoon appointment. I yowled and tried to dig my way out of the PTU the whole way there in the car. Once inside the V-E-T's office, I was silent, in major terrified mode. Lots was going on since many people were picking up their pets who had been boarded while they were on vacation. Highly excitable dogs, greeting their long lost owners - you can imagine what it was like. We ended up having to wait in the waiting room for about 50 minutes!

Once we got into the exam room, things were better - my V-E-T is a very nice man, and he treated me very kindly. I weighed 11.75 lbs, the same as 2 years ago. But it got decided that since I do sometimes escape, I should be vaccinated against feline leukemia, which meant stealing some of my BLUDS to be sure I tested negative before getting the vaccine. When he carried me out to the "back room" I thought I would never ever see Mom again. I got my test, my shots and my chip before I saw her again. And yowled all the way home.

Mom took her camera along, thinking she would get a picture or two of me there, but in the end it stayed in her purse. This picture is an old one, but is representative of how I crashed for a nap once we got home. And how Mom FELT like crashing!

Thank goodness I don't have to go through that again for a long time (Mom: Simba has to go back for a second leukemia vaccination in a month's time. But don't tell him now).

  3. Yikes, we'll keep that piece of info under our hats for now! I don't know who the vet visits are more traumatic for, the cats of the humans!

Glad Simba had a good rest when he got home :-)

  6. Trips to the vet can be very exhausting, especially when you end up waiting a long time. We both habe a micro chip too. An anecdote: Chilli got hers when she was very young and it wandered under her skin from her neck to a place on her chest inbetween her front legs. Crazy stuff! That can happen with young cats we were told. It's still readable though.
    Many purrs,

  7. Simba, you are very brave! Harley and I both have microchips, too. Maybe we can communicate with each other through our microchips!
