Kukka Maria and Brach, and Momo

Those of our friends who remember reading the amazing blog of Kukka Maria, "Memoirs of a Feline Sovereign in Exile", their "Agent" has posted an update and we are sure she could use some kind words and support.  Also, the blog is an amazingly funny one to read - do go back and read some of the archives.

We are very sorry to hear that sweet Momo is sick and in need of our heartfelt purrs and crossed pawsies.

Not too Many Words Wednesday - Diva Audrey

In honor of Sweet Praline, we are posting a photo of Audrey the diva - this picture is from before she moved in with us, but she seems to be saying "I know how beautiful I look against this blue sofa"!

Photo Hunt - Reflect

We have really fallen behind with posts.   Sorry. "You-know-who" is to blame.

The theme for Photo Hunt today is Reflect.    In hunting for a picture that had both of us in it, and a reflection, we found this one from last fall, although Simba is the only cat "reflected".

Not Completely Wordless Wednesday - The Way We Were

Kitties, on the Tabby Cat Club blog, the tabbies are posting about either their kitten selves or themselves at an earlier time.    This picture of Audrey is from 2006, when she lived with her first Mom.      Those were her "heavier" days!

In 2006, Simba looked so much like he does now, you can hardly tell, though his fur coat was in better condition (now he has a few mats that need attention).

ManCat Monday

Here's a photo taken of me on Sunday for posting for ManCat Monday.      Quite mancatly if I do say so myself.   It is a little dark because it was already evening.

But what was I looking up at?      A birdie?  A squirrel?   A plane or helicopter (those do go over around here sometimes)?    Kitties, it was a TURKEY gone to roost up in one of our oak trees!      We had been watching a few of them in the yard during the day and come bedtime, this one decided to roost right over the deck!!     Sorry no pictures, it was all Dad could do to get this picture of me looking up and then to move the heck out of the way in case it POOPED!

Pee Ess:  it pooped overnight!  We won't photograph it but you can sort of imagine how much poop a turkey can drop from a tree!   Dad got the hose out!

Update:     After we posted, Mom was able to get some pictures of a female and male turkey in our yard. In the first picture you see the female sitting on our back wall, with the male's brown tail feathers fanned out showing behind her (as well as the neighbors' swing set).

In this second picture, you can see the male strutting his stuff in our yard.  Clearly it is courting season!

Yes, We are Still Here

Gosh, kitties, cannot believe we have not posted since Wednesday.  Mom and Dad got a new iMac on Thursday because their laptop was chockerblock full!   So they are still getting used to it and transitioning pictures etc, hence we got the short shrift and no pictures for today's post.

Mom has stopped her physical therapy even though she still gets pins and needles in her left arm and hand sometimes.     She is hoping it will clear up slowly over time. Otherwise she will go back to the therapist again.

Spring is sprung here, 70 degree weather and lots of green pollen on the cars!     Mom is starting to sniffle some.   But everything is so lovely to see bursting out on the trees.

Friends in the midwest tornado alley, Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas especially, stay safe today!!!!!

Easy On Tuesday

Here is Audrey showing that she can definitely take it easy any day of the week!

We have also posted about what we would do under certain circumstances on the Tabby Cat Club blog.    You can read our post and those  by other tabbies here.

We want to send many purrs for our friend Princess to get well.

Happy Birthday to Marg

Today we want to honor a special friend, of ours, and of all animals, Marg of Margs Animals.     We join with kitties and other animals from all over the blogosphere, in thanking Marg for all she does for animals in need.  Marg, you are one very special lady!  We wish you a very very Happy Birthday!   Whether it be kitties, or doggies or goats or donkeys, your home is always open to the animals in need.   Though we have never had the honor of meeting you in person, we count you as a dear friend.

It doesn't go un-noticed by us that our own special Auntie M (formerly also known as Marg)  is a dear lover of helpless animals and half way around the world she is trying to help a trio of sweet feral kittens to survive the elements.

So to BOTH Margs, you are the BEST!!!

Photo Hunt -Awesome

This week's Photo Hunt theme is Awesome.

About 5 weeks ago, the humans visited Manhattan and went to the National September 11 Memorial.    This opened last Fall and a museum adjacent to the Memorial is still being completed.   You can see it in the background of this first picture.

The whole place filled both Mom and Dad with awe.    The water streams down all four sides of the square and disappears completely down the hole in the middle.   You cannot see the bottom of the hole at all and it is as if it never ends. The names of all those who died in the 2001 and also the 1993 attacks are engraved in the bronze surrounds.  There are two pools, one for each of the twin World Trade Center towers.

Right next to the Memorial the Freedom Tower is under construction.   This is how far they have gotten with building it now.

If you are going to be in New York and want to visit, you should go online quite a bit ahead of time and reserve tickets.   Weekdays are easier to get than weekends.    There is no charge but you have to have a ticket issued in your own name.  Only a few tickets are given out at the site each day.     Here is the website:  http://www.911memorial.org/.     Or if you would just be interested in learning more about the Memorial you can go here.

Indoor Gardening Thursday

::meoww::

Dad enjoys orchids and we usually have one plant in the house.     Usually the plant is purchased with flowers on it and once the flowers are over it has not always been easy to get the plant to produce another set of flowers.   Dad has nurtured and tended this plant all through the winter, without any flowers, and now it has three stems of buds, and the first bud has opened up.    Great excitement here!!

(The small blue item in the pot is a glass decorative dragonfly).
