Funny Foto Friday

Which are the legs and which is the tail?     Mom has caught Audrey sleeping like this more than once.

Memorial Day

Amidst the barbecues and shopping on this holiday, our humans would do well to truly take time remember what the purpose of Memorial Day is - to honor the over 1 million members of the US Armed Forces who have died in service of their country.     That is a big number, kittehs.   One million +

Mom went to Wikipedia to read a little about Memorial Day and found this out about our flag that she did not know (don't mind her, she is a bit slow):

"On Memorial Day the flag of the United States is raised briskly to the top of the staff and then solemnly lowered to the half-staff position, where it remains only until noon. It is then raised to full-staff for the remainder of the day.
The half-staff position remembers the more than one million men and women who gave their lives in service of their country. At noon their memory is raised by the living, who resolve not to let their sacrifice be in vain, but to rise up in their stead and continue the fight for liberty and justice for all"

Now because our flag hangs on the side of the house with the flagpole at an angle, we don't quite know how to accomplish this, but we are gonna scratch our heads and think about a plan.

Posting Old Pictures

OK, guys, Mom's excuse wasn't very good was it?  Here we are last June, relaxing on the deck.   Just what we want to do today, but it is thunderstormy.   As it will be for several more days, and we also had rain last weekend and Monday.

But some rain is so easy to contend with compared to the poor people and animals in Oklahoma who went through that awful tornado.    We are purring very very hard for them.

11 months ago we were probably waiting for lunch - nothing new.

Blog Hiatus

We are going to be taking a little blog hiatus.     Dad went away with the camera and Mom doesn't have anything to take pictures of us.      We will be back in a little while.  We will try to read and comment on your bloggies and maybe can make Mom drag out old pictures or post with no pictures, but not sure.

Straw Hat(less?) Day

We have been seeing lots of our friends sporting straw hats today.   Well, we do not have any pictures of us WEARING hats, but we do have pictures of us checking out the straw sombrero.

Simba is really giving it the sniff test (due to the treats Dad put there!).

We posted this one already on Cinco de Mayo, but it is the only one they have of us both with the hat.

Mom googled Straw Hat Day, and came up with the following information.  Most of our friends probably know this, but we didn't!

Straw Hat Day marks the point when your day-to-day felt hats should be put away (until the Felt Hat Day on September 15th), and when you start start to wear a straw hat instead to keep cool (in both senses of the word!); modern research has tended to show, however, that straw hats aren’t nescessarily any cooler or better protection from the sun than other hat types.

Happy Mother's Day

Wishing all human Moms of humans and animals and cat Moms of kitties (and woofie Moms too!) a very happy Mother's Day.    And everyone has a mother to remember, even if she is no longer here.   It is all about unconditional love.

Thank you Ann of Zoolatry for this lovely graphic for today:

Kitties, be good to your Moms today!

Feeling Fine Friday

Kitties, I wanted to update you on how I am doing with my hyperthyroidism.      I am doing GREAT!   I take my pills without fuss twice a day and I have gained weight and I am just plain feeling good.     Mom and Dad really hope I continue to do well with this medicine.     One of the biggest changes Mom notices is how much nicer my fur is than when my T4 levels were high.   It made my fur kind of dusky and dull looking - now it feels soft and is back to its pretty pale color.

Here I am snuggling with Dad while he works on the computer.

One possible problem, though, is that the new refill on my prescription the vet gave us bigger pills - same dose, but a different manufacturer.     The humans had been thinking about ordering my pills online to save some money, but held off, feeling the vet would be most reliable - now they would like to find a source of the smaller pills.   Do any of your parents have experience with any of the online vet pharmacies and their reputability?   They don't want to use a bad one!    They did find out the manufacturer of the first pills the vet gave us, but now they have switched over.  Maybe they will switch back? We don't know.  But they sure don't want me to discover those bigger pills in my pill pockets!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

We are posting at the Tabby Cat Club today, kitties, where there is a fabulous party going on hosted by Tommie.   Come by and see all our festive garb and have a meowgarita! (can you find us in the banner by the clubhouse, done  by fabulous Gracie?)

And Audrey will be doing her own version of the Mexican Hat Dance.

Photo Hunt - Under

The picture we posted a few days ago that shows Simba UNDER the chair, looking cautiously at the Baby, would qualify, but we just used it.      So Mom couldn't resist showing this one of the Baby back in February.  She couldn't crawl forwards yet, but could go backwards, so she got herself backed up under the furniture.

Now, 3 months later, she is an accomplished crawler and is close to being able to walk.    World, here she comes!

Back to Four Again

Our Baby and her Mama have gone home, so it is back to the 2 humans plus 2 cats again.    Wow, it was busy while she was here.    Every time she saw us, it was speedy crawling to try to catch us!    Audrey enjoyed the attention, and would move just a little away, then stop, over and over.  Baby was pretty good with gentle pats and liked Audrey's whiskers.

Baby learned to climb the stairs, so the humans spent quite a bit of time being sure she wouldn't fall back down.     Her Mama says they will try to buy a house with stairs, but we think it would be good to wait till she knows how to go back down safely!  Dad worked with her to teach her backing down, but maybe next time she visits they will try to install some gates, just to be on the safe side.      Pretty soon she will be walking, we think.

Here is a shot Mom clipped out of a short video that she can't show, because she turned the point and shoot camera sideways when she took it!   She can't rotate the whole video but she could rotate the screen shot.

Sadly, she developed a bad cold on Monday and was pretty miserable for the rest of Monday and Tuesday.    Though she still managed to have some fun with her drippy nose and short fuse as a result of feeling crummy.    Fortunately she did ok on the plane trip home, as all the adult humans were a bit worried about flying with a sickish baby.
