Keeping Secrets

Hi, friends.   We have been keeping a secret, though some of you may have guessed - our humans went away on vacation and left us for 10 days!       That is the longest ever since Audrey came, and the first time they went on a vacation together other than short family visits, since Audrey came to live here.  We did fine!   Even though Mommy worried about us a lot.    Our cat sitter was the neighbors' 16 year old son.      He is super super tall - Mom has to look waaaaayyy up to see his face.     Of course he was not as good at the details of caring for us as Mom and Dad are, but he did OK and we are none the worse for wear.

The humans went tot he Big Island of Hawaii, and with traveling time, were there for 7 1/2 days.   They had a good time.  They did quite a lot of snorkeling, and visited beaches and saw some of the feral kitties who live there.   We will post about that soon.    The last 3 days were spent at the Volcanoes National Park.    They found that part very interesting.     On their last day they were there for the official release of the Volcanoes National Park quarter.    It is part of the America the Beautiful series on the National Parks.      Mom copied this picture from eBay:

They had a cool ceremony with dignitaries, hula dancers, musicians and everything there (in the rain!), and Mom and Dad were able to get some of the new coins to save.   That was the only rain they had on their vacation, of course!

Mom is going to go and take us out on the deck now, because we have missed being able to go out there.   She will add a picture or two of us later.

--------------------------------------
Here we are, checking out how well the catnip plant and the other plants have grown:

Our cat sitter also took care of watering the plants and putting out nectar for the hummingbirds, and he did a good job with the plants.   We think the hummers may have migrated south now.  We hope they missed Isaac!

Not So Easy Sunday with Audrey

Audrey sometimes sleeps near her feeder - looks relaxed, but will be right there when it dispenses her "lunch".     The label helps explain the use of the feeder for our cat sitter.     Simba doesn't eat from the feeder - he gets his food in another room to stop Audrey from scarfing it all down too!    He is less addicted to food than Audrey.

Chillin'

We have shown you plenty of pictures of us looking longingly at the door to come in for a meal.     Well, ere we were willing to chill and take a little nap, while still maintaining our proximity to the door, just in case.     I guess it wasn't THAT close to dinner time.

Oh, OKAAAAY!

Cat said just what the Mom wanted to read - could hardly wait to see new pictures of the baby.   Well, here you go with just one!

Yes, Mom did want to get the outfit that said "I love my Grandma" but it wasn't as cute a color as this one!   And she has several Aunties, only one Grandma.     In fact, we all love the way she looks in this color blue.   Her latest tricks are standing in your lap, playing with her toes, sucking her thumbs, and sleeping for 7 hours straight at night!   She is about 10 and 1/2 lbs now.    And one of the cutest babies in the whole wide world.

Hopeless Secretarial Saturday

Mom is just a hopeless secretary.  Now that she is home, she is posting less for us than when she was away!    But you see, here is her excuse:   she and Dad traded places.     Dad went to be with the Baby and her Mommy and Daddy,  and Mom came home to us.     Pretty nice of them to do it that way so that we only had to have a pet sitter for one night.    But Dad wanted to keep the camera so that he could take some of his own pictures of the Baby.

Do you think this picture (from BEFORE, of course) adequately conveys my irritation?

On Our Level

Mom thought she was being all clever getting down on the floor and taking some pictures of us.

Mancatly Monday

Mom is going to see us again soon, on Thursday.     She has missed cuddling with us.    After all, who could resist this Mancat?

Actually, Simba does not cuddle, really.  But he will sleep right close to Mom, and purr and purr.   He just doesn't like to be held close, or sit on a lap.

What We Are NOT Doing

Mom is still posting for us remotely but she is 99.999999999999999999999% sure this is NOT what we are doing today.

For one thing, that messy blankie is BEHIND the sofa and Simba sometimes goes and lies on it.    But more to the point, she has only once seen us snuggle so close, and that is when she took this picture!   With that expression on Simba's face, it is clear he is only staying because of the blankie.

World Cat Day

Happy World Cat Day!  Today should be all about CATS!  Don't let your humans do anything else except for tend to your needs, kitties!

And let's have some special thoughts and purrs today for all those kitties who are feral and out there fending for themselves and all the ones in shelters needing forever homes.

Manly Monday

We don't think we ever posted this rather Manly profile of me from last November on the deck.     Hope you enjoy it and have a happy Monday!

Photo Hunt - Oooooo

Mom was up early checking blogs the other morning at "The Baby's" apartment as the sun came up and for a brief couple of minutes the sky looked like this.       Then it was gone.

The living room windows face east.   This morning it is thundering and finishing up a thunderstorm:  she will see whether today's view is an interesting one too.

Closeups Friday

::SIGH::   Mom has been SO lax with blogging for us.     We think we will fire her.    She is still away with the grandbaby and family.     But she dug up thee two closeup pictures of us for today:

Simba

Audrey

ARRRGGGHHHH!   She is sneaking in a picture of the baby too!   Here she is sitting on Mom's lap Skyping with Dad (her Grandpa).

Just about  9 1/2 lbs and she is already a computer pro.    Mom loves the way she recognizes Dad on Skype.    It will be good when he gets to see her next, he will not be a stranger.   Occasionally Audrey walks back and forth in front of the screen,  so Baby gets  a fast glimpse of her.  But she has not yet seen any cats in the fur.     Maybe we can meet her at Christmas.    Gee, guess by then she will be all crawly and tail-pully!  (Pee Ess: her top says "Princess").
