Apparently the computer Belle is lying on (yesterday's post) is called an Apple IIe. My commenters had excellent guesses about when the picture was taken. My folks bought the computer for Christmas 1983, and continued to use it till the beginning of the 1990s. The picture of Belle was taken in 1989. Belle lived until she was nearly 14 human years old and went to the Rainbow Bridge in 2003.
Mom tells me in the"old days" they mostly used the computer for word processing, and the internet had not been "discovered" then. And that the screen was not in color, and the computer didn't have a hard drive. I cannot believe any of that. She must be wrong.
Belle was really floofy! Wow!
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend!
Sorry for any confusion, Busby and Raymond. Today's picture is me. Yesterday's pictures were Belle.
ReplyDeleteYep, Simba. your Mom is telling the truth. Those old computers were something else. #1 bought her first (THE first Mac) in 1985 and remembers well the lack of a hard disk drive, never mind the Internet!
ReplyDeleteThat's a gorgeous picture of you today!
Yes Simba your mom is telling the truth. My human got one of THE FIRST MACs ever too--her boyfriend and friends were all computer geeks so they took it apart and saw the signatures on the inside! It was quite cool. In 1994 she worked at Reed College and she still had an exterior hard drive on an ancient Mac Plus...
ReplyDeleteOur Humans tells us that they knew computers like that. Before we were even here. How can there be a before we were here? Strange.
ReplyDeleteYou look luxuriously fluffy!
Unfortunately, your mom is right, according to my mom. I wasn't around then!
ReplyDeleteSimba, the Rumblemum is so dazzled at the photo of you that she barely even geeked out at the computer talk!!
ReplyDeleteSimba, we loved hearing about Belle, and our mum too remembered those clunky slow computers.
ReplyDeleteMum was reading The Dream House, good spotting. She didn't enjoy it as much as her too most recent books, the author Rachel Hore though writes nice gentle not too chick lit stories.
Mum writes about all the books and movies she reads and sees at http://readlikeme.blogspot.com/
Hope you are having some relaxing time off together.
You mean there was life before the innernets??? Hard to believe! ;-)
ReplyDeleteBTW, you look beautiful today, Simba.
Belle was such a beautiful kittie, and what a nice long life to have here.
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine not having the blogging and all. Do you know that my folks are so old that they remember there being no computers. Yep, they are older than old.
