Behold the "babies":
(Dad brought the parsley plant onto the upper deck). Here is the full plant.
Here is a BIG guy!
Not everybody hatched at the same time. This fella is smaller.
Here is an even smaller one.
Dad's finger for comparison.
A year ago we had quite a few like this but they consumed the parsley before they were all fully grown. Then came the hurricane and ..................
We are sort of hoping the birds pick off just enough of them that the others have enough parsley to get to the chrysallis stage.
AND, our tomatoes are yielding real, edible fruits: today Dad picked these:
Well, we sure hope everything works out timing-wise this year. It would be very nice to have some swallowtails fluttering around!
ReplyDeleteWe hope they turn into pretty flutterbys!
ReplyDeleteWe are thinking about getting a parsley plant or two for our butterflies. Do you think its too late in the season? Thanks for the great idea, we wouldn't have thought of it without you.
ReplyDeletePaws crossed that some of these guys make it! That is awesome that your humans grow plants just for them.
ReplyDeleteWe hope they turn into lovely butterflies too! We had parsley last year in our garden, but no caterpillars on them.
ReplyDeleteOH what a thrill and mommy said she means that! She wishes she had the same and yes, you want them to have enough and that means sad choices for us when the birdies come to eat! xxoo
ReplyDeleteWe hope you get lots of pretty butterflies.
ReplyDeleteLuv Hannah and Lucy xx xx

ReplyDeleteWhat pretty caterpillars! We hope you get some butterflies like you did two summers ago--that was cool!
ReplyDeleteOur tomatoes are already done...no more gardening until October when we do cool weather crops.
Lovely tomaters!! Mine are still small, and green. Will be several weeks at best before they look like yours. I think it's nice that you share your parsley with the cattypillars.
ReplyDeleteWow what yummies you have. Those caterpillars are beautiful and we hope they do become butterflies. Thank you for all of your kind words and purrs and prayers for my dear sweet Abby.
ReplyDeleteWe hope they all turn into butterflies!
ReplyDeleteThe Human says the tomatoes look really nommy. I thinkt he caterpillars look even nommier so the Human says it's a good thing I can't get anywhere near them.
ReplyDeleteOh those tomatoes look so yummy. Nothing better than a nice home grown tomato. Looks like you are going to have tons of butterflies. What pretty caterpillars. Have a super Friday.
ReplyDeleteWe're rooting for your CATerpillars!!!
ReplyDelete...and Glogirly's eyeing those tomatoes!
: )
Oh we totally can identify with the caterpillar devouring the parsley crop concept! (and the dill, and ...!)
ReplyDeleteWe hope you both can share your herbs this year! Hopefully there's enough for caterpillar and human alike!
Oh and thank you sooo much for letting us know we had a messed up rafflecopter widget. We fixed it so you can go back and click on the "I commented" button now! (So sorry for the inconvenience!)
Simba, My good ManCat! I cannot thank you enough for providing the purrfect link for my Lazy, Incompetent Human to order me a supply of my preferred smousies! They are the EXACT kind I love! They are small and light and I can get a claw in and toss those little suckers all the way across the room and chase them for hours! You're the BEST, Buddy!!! I made her order them right away so soon I should have a nice little crowd of them!
ReplyDeleteSimba! You won our drawing for the World's Best Litter! Can you please email us your snail mail address? Our address is tonkstail (at) gmail.
ReplyDeleteAnd congratulations!!
