Visit to the Butterfly House

My Mom has been on a trip to St Louis, Missouri, and I have learned that today she visited the Butterfly House in Chesterfield, Mo. She saw hundred of live butterflies in the Conservatory there. It was especially great to be able to visit it, because she missed seeing our butterflies at home. When she gets home and can look at her pictures, she hopes to have some to show, though apparently taking still pictures was not too successful, because most of the flutterbys were in flight most of the time.

If you ever get a chance to go, she really recommends it.

  1. Simba, we hope your Mom is bringing you a jar of butterflies for your...erm...entertainment.

  2. How cool! And how very appropriate seeing you had your very own butterflies!

  3. We live close to Natural Bridges State Park, where the Monarch butterflies come to spend the winter. They hang in clusters (like grapes!) from the eucalyptus trees. It's really cool.

  4. I went to the a butterfly conservatory when I was in Key West and it was a fantastic place! Hot and tropical and beautiful butterflies everywhere (and the requisite pan flute music - LOL)!

Yes it is hard to take photos of them in flight, I had a lot of blurry shots, but one landed on my hairclip and one landed right on the end of Robert's nose and we were able to get pics of those :-)

  5. My mom and dad visited a butterfly house in Victoria BC...with butterflies flying all around. I would have passed out from chattering and pouncing and stuff....but I was not allowed to go. Sigh.
