PhotoHunt - Hanging

We have several Hummingbird feeders on our deck. Three of them are of this type with the little test tubes. They usually work very well, because Dad can freshen the sugar water often with the small tubes.

However, for some reason, this year we have had virtually no hummingbirds visiting our feeders. It may have to do with when Dad was first able to put the feeders out, which was later than usual due to their trips in May and June. Dad is not giving up, and hopes that we will start to see some when they begin migrating. But he has been pretty sad, because he really loves watching them and feels good about providing them with some fresh food and water.

  1. That's cool! We have one large feeder but Momma only fills it half full so that she refills it more often and it stays fresh. We only had a few birds this year. . . .

  3. Hang in there (MOL!) with the feeders. We have had less hummers here at our feeder too. We think it maybe due to a very wet and cold winter or the fact that one of the neighbors cut down a big tree where the hummers were probably nesting.

  4. That's a unique hummingbird feeder. I know I would visit it if I was a hummingbird.

  5. Hmmmm...I've had less hummers here, too. Usually there's a big herd? flock? group? of them in the spring but it was pretty sparse this year. I have the usual pair or two that drive the Cats wild but no others. It must be the weather this year...I'll see what happens in the fall.

All of us here love to watch hummers, hubby usually can get some good photos, too.

  6. That is a great hanging. I wonder why they don't come by so much?

  7. I need a hummingbird feeder outside my favorite Bird TV window. We do get them visiting here from time to time, just not where I can get a really good peek at them.

  8. We hope your dad's hummingbirds come back! We don't have a hummingbird feeder but a hummingbird buzzed by the deck the other day. At least we hope it was and it wasn't a bat!
