Photo Hunt "Guess"

Kitties, in less than two days all the caterpillars have gotten a lot bigger.   We would say almost doubled in size?     So here is for your guess:    can you help us guess how much longer before one makes the first chrysalis?   We can't promise to know for sure when (give us a guess of which day next week), because they tend to crawl away from the plant to do it, and we suspect they will go under the deck or even further way, but if we can, we will try to catch it as it shows its desire to leave the plant.

We hope at least one will reach that stage before all the parsley is gone.  There are quite a lot of caterpillars on the plant.   And they eat a LOT!     (can you see the little caterpillar poopy behind the one on the right?)

  1. I see that poopy! But...parsley plant said it's OK :-) I say Tuesday of next week? I sure hope you are able to capture them leaving.

  3. I sure don't have any idea. I would say, probably not much longer. It won't be long now. Take care. Interesting study.

  4. Wow - this is a most excellent biology lesson. They are MONSTER caterpillars. And the poopy is pretty big too.

  5. Look at all those catapillars! I don't know what to guess either so I'll go with Katie's guess of next Tuesday. I hope you're able to get some pictures!

I hope you all have a good Saturday!

  7. We'd have to Google just to hazard a guess. LOL. Don't think we've seen caterpillar poop before, though!

The human says thanks for the comment/perspective. The inability to finish eating the kibble was due to stale kibble--even though she buys the smallest bags and keeps it in a sealed stainless steel container. New bag, fresh kibble, all gone, presto! So at least no tooth issue, she doesn't think.

OMC, she says, cats do this to us just so humans can lose what little grip on sanity they have.

But as for the paté thing...Shrug. Beats her...and Nicki isn't saying.

  8. Well, parsley makes humans poop or why not catepillars? Heh heh. Is there a prize in this? I'll guess Wednesday.

  12. Ha ha ha! We have never seen Caterpillar poop before!! We say Furiday!

P.S. The Human is embarrassed that the Celestial Kitties pointed out that it was actually the Trout Town Tabbies that gave us that ebay link, ha ha meow! But we LOVES you lots even though we corrected our thank you on my bloggy!

  13. Hey Buddy! Yes, the Human *might* have to order more because somewhere in our apartment there is The Black Hole of Toys--I have had, like, 100 smousies and somehow, they are All Gone. A couple years ago when the kitchen was painted the fridge was moved and there were some under there. The Human thinks there might be more under the stove but it has gas hook ups so it has not been moved. There are prolly about elebenty-nine smousies under there I think. ha ha ha.

Plus, prolly Amazon is cheaper. AND Amazon gets her every time with that "just spend $X more and you'll get free shipping!" She has prolly spent elebenty million extra $$ that way. Sigh.

  14. PPS: We think the three inches includes the fev-ver tailio and that the actual smousie body is only a little more than an inch.

At least we hope so because I likes me the tiny smousies, the ones I can fling about with abandon.

We will have to wait and see now. I will post when they arrive!

  18. We'll guess Wednesday...just because. And we see the poopy! We never knew caterpillars pooped, but then again...eating all that parsley, it's gotta come out somehow, right?? ;)
