Merry Christmas Cactuses!

Gardening takes place indoors here, now. Our Christmas Cactuses (Cacti?) reached the right combination of daylight hours and temperature that is magic for blooming and they were very pretty last weekend. The red ones came originally from a plant my Mom's Mom had 33 years ago. The pale pink one came from a plant my Mom and Dad got in honor of Mom's sister 7 years ago. One thing that is good about them is I never try to eat them, unlike the spider plants and assorted other houseplants they try to grow. So they can be in a room where I go without any problem. And another special reason to show these pictures is so Mom's other sister, Flossie's Mom, can see how pretty they look now.

Enjoy!

  1. Your Christmas cactus' look amazing! Ours lives outside and it isn't showing any sign of blooming. We think we are going to start calling it a New Years cactus, since that is usually when ours blooms.

  5. Those Christmas Cactuses are so pretty! We're very impressed because our mommy can't grow anything. Her air plant even died last week - seriously.

  6. Simba I loved to chew on mum's plant so she had to keep it in a room with the door closed. Then in summer she puts it outside and the squirrels finished it off.

  13. Those Christmas cacti are beautiful. Our Beans have one which used to belong to our dad's mum. Our mum says it is at least 43 years old. It goes outdoors for the summer and comes back in for the winter.Sometimes when it has been outdoors and very windy, big pieces break off it, but it still goes on year after year.
