This is an older photo because Mom didn't get a picture of yesterday's excitement.
So with the new water softener in place, Dad decided to drain the hot water heater by attaching a hose to it and running it out the basement door. Which led to me getting out, so Mom followed me as I did my usual tour round the house. But then I decided to sit for a long while behind the front shrubbery, so Mom got busy picking up pretty leaves. Next thing she knew, she saw me going into the next door neighbors' yard (on the other side of the wall in the picture), so she followed me, and tried to pick me up to come home. Well, I was super tricky, and got behind THEIR bushes. In the end it took my Dad giving me a chase, and Mom shaking the Party Mix bag, and then I ran home.
I got to wear my harness for the remainder of the day if ever I went on the deck. It makes me hunker down and not move much. I don't like it. They thought they could depend on me to stay pretty close to our house, but now they are not so sure I will do that.
Your mom and dad only want what's best for you, so please be careful out there.
ReplyDeleteWe think that eventually you will get used to that harness,Simba. It's a drag but it's for your own good.
ReplyDeleteI take my hooman out on a harness. Trouble is, I forget she is there and get in such a tangle round the garden furniture prrrrr
ReplyDeleteDon't worry Simba you will get used to the harness very soon! It's to keep you safe :-)
ReplyDeleteSimba, sometimes ya just gotta show them who is boss and break outta the yard!!!!!!!!! But please don't ever go too far, cuz we'd miss you if you got lost.
ReplyDeleteSammy used to have a harness and he thinks you'll get used to it.

Simba, I tried to go exploring and I got a harness too. Moms are just TOO MEAN! That dang thing steals all my bones.

Simba we think you should not be visiting the neighbors if your mom and dad want you to stay home. Sure it is fun but you could get in trouble. We don't want that to happen! Though it does stink you had to wear the harness after that. We dont' use them but we imagine they are like when our mom tries to put clothes on us - they are so heavy and we just can't move right!
ReplyDeleteSimba! You worry us! We're glad your mom and dad were able to get you home and we hope you don't go exploring at the neighbors again! Just remember that Party Mix and stay home!
ReplyDeleteSimba, you had an opportunity for freedom and you took advantage of it!! We know you wouldn't have gone far...

ReplyDeleteIt's tough. There are always things to look at and explore and they are always in the neighbors yard.

Simba, you are lucky you can go outside at all! One time Binga had a harness on outside and she got spooked and managed to get out of it! After that, everyone was totally grounded forever.
ReplyDeleteSimba be careful! When mom's get upset and scared they will lock you up inside and you'll only see your deck through a window!
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I could do the harness thing either. I don't even like collars! But you need to be mindful of staying close by when you get out and not give your mom and dad a heart attack!
ReplyDeleteWhen we first saw that photo, Simba, we thought it was a fox!
ReplyDeleteI have a harness I've never used. And I don't intend to!
ReplyDeleteOh oh ~ poor kitty ~ but it's best to be protected ~ it's a big bad world out there for such pretty kitties!! :) Banjo has to wear a harness when he goes out too.

It is not a good idea to go wandering off Simba. It always means loss of privileges.
