Thankful and Thoughtful Thursday
We are thankful we have a warm house and cozy spots to sleep. When Mom read about Governor Christie blasting the House of Representatives for not voting on a bill to provide funds for Sandy victims and rebuilding, she was reminded of how many peoples' homes were destroyed or damaged.
Also on our minds: so many who we know who have recently been diagnosed and/or treated with various forms of cancer. It just seems like such an upsurge, and our hearts go out to them and their families. We hope and purr that the new year will bring more progress in treatments and research towards cures. In that respect it is important that Congress not vote for cutting spending on biological research through the NIH and NSF because it is only through supporting basic research that the gains can be made in finding cures. So if you have it in mind to write to your Congressmen/women, you could include that thought if you wish. (our Mom helped us say that).
Next post we promise not to get political.

We too are thankful for warm spots and our family and friends, like your selves.
ReplyDeleteWe don't get politics. And humans don't get politics it seems because they don't want to be nice to each other. Pah!
That is ok, you picked some very good points to be political about xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteWe are so angry that congress couldn't be bothered to vote on that! And the violence against women- UGH! I think they should have voted me in and we'd all be better off. I'd rule with an iron paw!
ReplyDeleteIf Caroline ever gets her Cheez-Its, she would definitely share with Gov. Christie.
ReplyDeleteWhen politics collie with human kindness and simple decency, that is when things get really ugly...
ReplyDeleteWe too are glad you are so well-loved.
Purrs,
The Chans
I think spay and neuter should be mandatory for all politicians!
ReplyDeleteCute photo! We're thankful for a warm house and cozy spots to sleep too! We hope Congress doesn't cut cancer research spending.
ReplyDeleteMy human loves our representative - he is a neighbor and she goes to his talks when he is in town. Sadly, my human does not think there are a lot like him, who care about his constituency and fight for them, and the things they care about.
ReplyDeleteBRIAN! YOu made me LAFF!
ReplyDeleteYou are right on! They want to cut so much stuff. We didn't vote for Gov. Christie but he's been doing some really good stuff. He wants help for Sandy victims but doesn't want the people of NJ to have affordable health care. Go figure.
ReplyDeleteWe'll join you in that hoping and purring, Simba. We think some politicians care more about themselves than the people who put them in office.
ReplyDeleteSuch comfy view~!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely dream!!
Yes, it is important to be thankful and also aware of how many kitties (and people) do not have such coziness.
ReplyDeleteWe don't like to talk politics cuase efurryone is different, but we gotta say that we think every thinking person, Democrat or Republican, has gotta love that your Gov. Christie got up and said the truth as he saw it without worrying every second about who might think what about what he said. We think it is one of the only times in recent memory we heared a politician stand up and speak what he was really thinking without trying to "spin" it one way or the other. We'd like to hear a WHOLE lot more of that from efurry darn member of Congress AND the President and alla them, all the time!!! Whew! Okay, we are done now.
