Update and Memories

Dear Friends,

It seems I have had a habit of posting on the 3rd of a month!    Though not very frequently, lately.  I am pretty sure this will be my last ever post.    I am 16 1/2 now and my health has been declining.   I have had hypothyroidism for quite a while now, and though that has been under good control, some other things have been happening.    I have had a few seizures, and now my legs, especially my back legs, don't want to listen very well to the signals they are getting from my brain.    Wanna keep this light, so I will tell you that I look pretty funny when I walk.   I still purr and give Mom a few whisker tickles, but on the whole my life has become pretty limited.  I eat quite well but I have still lost a lot of weight.   (Mom has always used the nickname "Bony" for me, even when I was NOT bony, but now the nickname suits me well. )  My litter box and food and water dishes have been moved into the family room so I don't have to go far.    I only go out on the deck if Mom carries me.

It has been a GOOD life.    I couldn't have asked for parents to love me any more than mine have.    I have had many long and wonderful years enjoying my deck, watching chippies and birdies down below, feeling the breezes, listening to chirps and faraway woofies barking.   I have even been buzzed by a hummingbird!In my early years I even got quite frequent chances to go in the real grass and bushes, and sniff all the smells down there.   Rusty was my first pal here, and then after he flew away, I was on my own for a while until Audrey came to live with us.    Now since Audrey had to fly away too, I have been king of the whole house, MY house, with MY servants.    Dad is not going to have much to do anymore, without his trips to Petsmart to get only my favorites, and his twice daily attention to the litterbox.

So we would all appreciate some purrs as Mom and Dad make the decision to help me to the Rainbow Bridge where I can run and play with all my old pals there, and the kitties from this family who have gone before me.   It will probably be in a few days' time.    Like a good son, I will await my parents' eventual arrival and then we will cross the bridge, all together.

Merry Catmess Time!!

Furry friends!     I have been AWOL for a long time.    My humans are paying too much attention to the grandchildren (4 now), hence my blog has fallen into disuse.    But I am pretty fine.  Almost 16 now!   When my humans are traveling I miss them, but my friend Caroline takes care of my needs very well.  

We love this from TICA, the International Cat Association in 2015.    Katie Isabella and her Mommy encouraged me to post it after I sent it to them.

Goodbye and Godspeed to Flynn

We are feeling very sad today to learn that my dear friend Flynn flew off to the Rainbow Bridge on May 1st, to join his brother Eric.     They were among my very first blogging friends.   I know their parents must be missing them both, and Flynn especially, since this leaves them without a kitty to share love with.     Run and fly free of sickness dear sweet Flynn.      One day we will meet again.   Please give Eric some head butts from me too, as well as ALL of our friends who have gone before.

On a happier note, one of the best things about blogging pets is meeting and getting to know bloggers from all over the world.    We share a special bond in our love of our animals.     Condolences to Jackie and Igor as they miss their dear sweet Flynn, but know that we hope you will continue to blog and tell tales of your travels and your life in Devon.   http://www.twodevoncats.blogspot.com

Warm Weather Was Lovely

Hi, pals.   Yes, I know.   Long time no see.   It is my typist's fault.

Anyhoo, a little while back we had some amazingly warm weather, considering it was February.    Mom took some pictures to show how I was enjoying the deck.  I do still go out when it is cold, sometimes, but I don't stay very long.

So here is me peering through the railings at something.  She needed to zoom to get this. see below for why).   When Mom tried looking through in that position she doesn't get what I must be looking at.  A whole lot of pachysandra growing down there, with a rare chance of seeing a chipmunk or squirrel.  

She was lucky to get that picture because usually if I see her coming out the door with the camera in her hand, this is what happens and it's all over with posing. (different day, different towel from Dad for me to sit on).

It is cold again now, but there is hope once March is over.

Hope you all are not too chilly, not too hot.  Just right!!

Coming Out of Hibernation

Gosh, it has been cold, and even a bit snowy, here.    Dad offered to let me on the deck this morning and when I saw the snow I backed way up!

I have been napping a lot in my cozy blankies.    Like this (my hibernation pose):

And Mom found me two new treats:   one is Fortiflora, that was recommended by Katie Isabella and her Mommy (supposed to help my digestion, but I like it 'cause it tastes DEEELICIOUS! )  The other new treat is a whole CANISTER full of Temptations Mixups, that are Catnip Fever flavor.     I also highly recommend them.    So I do wake up from my hiberation naps to get some fuds.

Notice that she had to move the wireless keyboard out of my way so I could get comfy.    She does spoil me that way!

Our Christmas tree is up, Mom has finished the (online) shopping and the Christmas cards, and I am hoping she remembers to blog for me more often.   She does go around and read some of my friends' blogs for me, and sometimes lets me comment, but I would like her to step that up too.

I don't have any festive header or eCard to put out for you all, but our wishes are there just the same:  may you all have a wonderful Christmas or Chanukkah, and I hope you get lots of yummy treats, and maybe a little roast beast!

A Good Excuse this Time for My Blogging Absence

This time I really DO have a good excuse for my absence.    You see, Mom spent most of the summer away helping out her daughter and with "our" new baby.   Thus Mom, my typing assistant, was not able to write blog posts for me.       So let me introduce her to you:  

I know, it looks like my sister gave birth to a bunny rabbit!       Sillies, those are not her own ears!   She has quite normal human ears, in fact.  

Her big sister came for a visit her first Christmas, and I do hope I get to meet this little one at Christmas time as well, or near then.     I like babies!   They smell good and they don't move fast.     Mom says this one is very opinionated, issuing little noises all the time.  I guess she will be a great talker like her big sister.
