Checkered Blankie

My blue and white checkered fleece blanket usually covers the whole end cushion of the couch and part of the back and arm of it too.   There is a lamp on the table next to it, that gives off some warmth, and it is my favorite place to lie.     (note that recently Audrey has started to lie there too, and it is quite disturbing to me).

So recently the Mom gave this blankie a wash and dry, and when it came back to the couch, Dad said " Let's see what he does if we leave it folded up in a small square".     Well, furriends, THIS is what "he" did:

Sunday Easy with a Sunpuddle

There is something about this red cover on the leather chair that is so cozy when the sun shines on it!

Audrey is so exhausted after all the transporting around to efurrybuddy's houses from our Ess.  Gotta rest up today!

Have a wonderful Sunday.

SSSsssss Saturday

Spitty the Kitty told us in comments that even though we do not have a fabulous tunnel like his to connect to all the other cat tunnels in the universe, a Cat Cube or an Ess will work just as well.      Se we are ready to connect, kitties!

Audrey is winding up for launch here!

Ten Questions

Last week Spitty-the-Kitty tagged us for answering 10 questions.     Thanks for the honor, King Spitty (hey, when did you go from Sir Spitfire, to King Spitty?).
So here we go with our answers:
#1. Describe yourself in seven words.  Audrey:  Hungry, chatty, affectionate, persistent, nosy, indiscriminate (re food), attentive.  Simba: Fluffy, sensitive, cuddly, patient, picky-eater,  observant, olfactory (likes to smell everything coming into the house).
#2. What keeps you up at night? Audrey: waiting for my automatic feeder to go off and give me my snack at 5 am.   Simba:   Mom watching tv at all weird hours of the night when she wakes up.     But then I snuggle with her so it has its good side.
#3. Who would I like to be?  Audrey: My namesake, Audrey Hepburn.  Simba:  An only cat.
#4. What am I wearing right now?   Nothing except our furs of course.  Not even our collars are on.
#5. What scares me? Simba: The doorbell, strange man footsteps and voices.   Audrey: None of those things that scare Simba, but I run from the sound of aluminum foil and the spray bottle.
#6. The best and worst of blogging. The best: enjoying the fun and supportive feedback from all the new blogging furriends.  The worst:   Trying to come up with some novel pictures to put into our posts.  The ones Mom has are SO repetitive!
#7. The last website I visited. Spitty’s!  To copy these questions.
#8. What one thing would I like to change about myself?
We wouldn’t change anything about ourselves.      We WOULD like ot change how often we get to go on the deck in the good weather, though.  And talking about that, we would like to change the weather NOW!
#9. Slankets, yes or no?   Well, they wouldn’t work for a kitty with the sleeves, but we LOVE our crocheted messy blankie, that Mom pulls over herself  on the couch like a lot of people use slankets.   But, really, what a weird name!
#10. Tell us something about the person Kitty! who tagged you.  Oh, Spitty has such a neat sense of humor.    And he loves the ladies – he is capable of spreading his love around to many of them.

So now we are supposed to tag some other cats - we will post this as is, and Mom will try to look around for who has not done it already.

Thursday in the Garden

:::Meowww:::

Does everybuddy know that the Great Backyard Bird Count begins tomorrow and goes through the weekend?      You can read more about it and how you can participate here.

Yesterday we were out on the deck for a short while and heard a loud noise coming from one of trees, and Dad told us it was a Pileated Woodpecker who had come to visit.      Well, he didn't get any new photos (we got some last year of him or a friend of his) but Mom has borrowed a picture from Wikipedia to show you.     He is a really BIG birdie!

If you want to learn more, here is the Wikipedia article.

ManCat Monday

Have I showed you this picture before?    Mom is having a hard time finding pictures of me doing something other than napping or sitting on the deck!     Anyway, she thinks I look pretty mancatly here.   I don't play with the Ess as much as Audrey does, without the claws and all, but even without front claws I do still sometimes scratch it.    Call it instinct.

Slightly Snowy Saturday

We had a little bit of snow last night.   It was just enough to put a coating on the trees and the deck, but not enough to be a trouble on the driveway and the roads.

Mom tried to "encourage" us to go out on the deck to check it out (really so she could get some pictures of us in it) but we said ARE YOU KIDDING?
We did look at it through the closed door, though.
Note Simba's folded towel now covered with snow (silly Dad didn't bring it in).

Here's a closeup:

Thankful Thursday

We are very thankful for the blankets Mom and Dad have spread around all over the chairs and couch in the family room.    In the chilly weather they help us feel cozy.   (Mom says they also help cut down on the furs on the furniture.  IMAGINE!).  For anyone coming into the house who is not a real CAT PERSON, it must look pretty odd.

This is MY corner of the couch.   I don't mind Audrey sleeping in most other places, but I get agitated if she takes over this spot.

ManCat Monday

Mancats still get chilly on the deck, even with a towel to sit on, and want to go back inside!

Happy Super Bowl Sunday!

Round here, we have to get our requests in early for the deck and such - it is pretty cold out there but I can tolerate it with a nice towel to sit on.

Audrey is resting up, but with one eye open, because she knows Dad bought good snacks to eat during the game, and she doesn't want to miss out on them.    Audrey is a Tostitos addict!

Dad is excited that it is two Northeast teams playing each other.    He's hoping for an excellent game.    Mom is going to be watching for the commercials!

Photo Hunt - Flat

One day Mom was trying to get some photos of us from the perspective of the floor, so she laid down flat on the floor with the camera.     Good thing Audrey's tail was in that position, otherwise this might have been a very unladylike picture!

Funny Friday - Computer Humor

Mom got an email from a friend with a bunch of computer humor things, all of which were funny.  But she thought this one was the most clever:

And this one was pretty good too:

And HERE is the kitty one:

Thankful Thursday

We are thankful round here for the warm weather over the past few days.     It even reached 60 degrees F here!     The weatherman says it has something to do with Jet Streem.   How he can make it warm at our house, I don't know.

Dad took us on the deck for a while yesterday, it was so nice.  We are very thankful for that.  But he didn't take pictures.

I am very thankful for my Messy Blankie.     I think this picture shows nicely while it is called MESSY blankie.    Mom will pull it over her on the couch while she watches tv, then fling it back and I will nestle in the mess made by that, or snuggle up next to her while she is using it.     It is SO soft and comfy.   I am sure you have already seen it in countless pictures, because 82% of the time in the winter, that is where Mom will find me.  Not easy to get pictures of me doing much else!

It was actually crocheted many years ago as a Christmas gift from my human grandparents to my human brother, who is now a big man.   Since he can't use a twin size blanket, we get to keep it!  At least for now.    Mom says it washes amazingly well, and it doesn't "pill" at all.   She washes it often to rid it of the cat furs.   I don't know why.  Aren't they a necessary part of any blanket?
